NEW THIS WEEK
Palo Verde Staff Appreciation Week!
April 27-May 1
Staff Appreciation week is April 27- May 1! During this week, the staff will enjoy a traditional luncheon hosted by the Kinder Families (Thurs. April 30th) and the PTA will support a few venues (Door Décor by the students, Snack Attack and flower day).
In past years, we have offered that a flower from your garden or a simple statement, picture or note of what your child enjoys or has learned from a staff member often brings smiles and true recognition to our entire staff during this week: current or past teacher(s), classroom aides, resource team, librarian, office staff, custodians, Music, Art and PE! You are welcome to celebrate staff as you see fit for your family.
You might ask your child who they would like to thank!
Happy Staff Appreciation Week Palo Verde!

PVKC Help needed
Dear PVKC Families,
Kids’ Club needs your HELP finding a neighborhood women & dog. Last Friday, April 10th a PVKC Staff was attacked by a dog while watching the kids in the program. No children were harmed. The incident happened at 5:41pm outside on the grass / play structure area. The PVKC Staff was supervising the children and a woman was playing catch with her dog. The dog then turned and ran towards the PVKC Staff and attacked. After the attack the woman and dog fled the scene. We need your help identifying the women & dog.
The women appeared to be about 5’5” height, thin built, short black wavy (maybe curly) hair that went up to her ears. She’s Caucasian and seemed to be in her late 40’s. Her dog was a black German Shepard (could have a little mix in it) with a few white strips on its head.
If anyone has any information on this woman and the dog please contact Danny Singh @ 650.852.9475. A name of either the woman or dog would help tremendously.

Yo Ho Ho! Treasure Island a Smashing Success at Palo Verde
With over 60 children in our cast and crew, Palo Verde’s co-production of Treasure Island with the Palo Alto Children’s Theatre was a great success! Thank you to all the parents who volunteered throughout the rehearsals, performances, and set tear-down. It took a large team of parents to pull it off – our hats off to you! Combined, parents donated 300+ hours of their time. There are too many parents to list here, but know that each and everyone of you is greatly appreciated.
Special thanks to the following staff members for helping to support the production, whether by lending your room, your time, or your ear to the process: Anne Brown, Jenny Hsiung, Elaine Chase, Mr. Winslow, Mrs. Shaffer, Amy Hansen, Carlos, Jose, and the staff of the Palo Verde Kids Club.
We’ll all look forward to the return of the Palo Alto Children’s Theatre in two years for another fantastic production!

Vote YES on A Today to Renew $13M Annual School Funding
Ballots arrived in the mail late last week. It’s time to vote YES to renew parcel tax funding we need to keep elementary and core class sizes down, elective offerings available, and students supported with counselors, psychologists and librarians. A 67% majority, or 2 YES votes for every NO vote, is needed for the ballot to pass.
Currently, PAUSD receives nearly $13M from parcel taxes. 85 teachers, counselors, librarians, and psychologists are funded entirely by these funds. It helps Palo Alto schools to keep pace with expected enrollment growth (over 700+ students over the next 5 years), and make up for declining state funding, and $4M per year in increased state-mandated costs, and lost lease revenue starting this year. Besides class size reduction, a few spending priorities for Measure A funds include greater student counseling support, additional school nurses, PreK to grade 2 literacy support, and expanded summer school offerings.
Please vote YES on A, and please encourage your friends and neighbors to vote YES as well! Note: PTA is an advocacy organization and while we are non-partisan we can and do advocate for ballot measures.
