Restaurant Night,   February 4  at Mountain Mikes

Pizza Fundraiser at Mountain Mikes in Charleston Center!  The more we eat, the more we make!  Please join us for Restaurant Night!

Reminder:  Auditions for “Treasure Island” 2/3 and 2/4
Auditions for the Palo Alto Children’s Theatre’s production of “Treasure Island” right here at Palo Verde will take place after school on Tuesday, 2/3 starting at 2:50 for 5th graders and Wednesday, 2/4 starting at 1:15 for 3rd and 4th graders. (Please feel free to come whichever day works for your family, regardless of grade, if you have a conflict.) Any child who wants a part in the play will get a part in the play. No preparation is required for the auditions – just come to the MP Room at the designated time. Parents need to complete forms and make payment ($25 per child) prior to auditions. The 2015 Palo Verde Spring Social & Auction Committee’s mission is to build community within our school; enhance the relationship among the school, parents and the wider community; and encourage the investment of time, energy and money into Palo Verde Elementary School.  We believe that our parent and teacher community is what makes Palo Verde Elementary School the special place that it is.  We believe that our parent and teacher community, along with the generous donations of our wider community, afford us with many unique and wonderful opportunities.  Our main goal for 2015 auction is to increase our parent participation in the PVSSA by planning a party that our parent community can all rally behind and enjoy while raising the funds necessary to provide for strong, diverse and vibrant experiences for our educators and learners.

El Camino Youth Symphony (ECYS) 2015 Lunar New Year Concert

Saturday, February 7, 2015, 4:00 pm at Flint Center in Cupertino!

This concert, perfect for all ages, begins with a lion dance and features the ECYS Senior Symphony, conducted by Stanford Symphony Orchestra Director Dr. Jindong Cai, Sinfonietta Orchestra, and special guests Grammy-nominated erhu soloist Jiebing Chen and the California Youth Chinese Symphony. The East meets West program will feature traditional Chinese works like Bao Yuankai’s Chinese Sights and Sounds, as well as festive classical repertoire like Sarasate’s Ziguenerweisen with violinist Jonathan Lin. Is your family prepared for an emergency or natural disaster? Have you discussed with your children how you all will contact one another and where your designated spot is to regroup?  The Dept of Emergency Services now provides you with an opportunity to discuss these and other  emergency preparation topics with your children in a fun way at the Epep class.Kids will learn, through a multitude of hands-on activities, some of the most essential information on how to become prepared for any sort of disaster (specifically earthquakes). Kids will receive their “Preparedness Passports”, and will also get the chance to meet Palo Alto’s Director of Emergency Services, along with a police dog! Children will leave the event feeling more resilient, and aware about disasters, as well as with a preparedness kit, and a family plan!
