As part of its 2014-2015 Budget, Palo Verde PTA was going to help fund Teacher’s College Writer’s Workshop. However, due to the District’s generosity to cover these costs, we have had to reallocate the funds. Please come by to grab a cup of coffee, review the changes to 2014-2015 PV PTA Budget, ask questions & vote on the changes to the budget.

Family Giving Tree Holiday Wishes Drive
It’s back! Palo Verde is proud to host the Family Giving Tree Holiday Wishes Drive. The Family Giving Tree partners with Bay Area social service agencies to collect specific gift wishes from children with whom they work year-round. Stop by the office starting on Nov 17 to pick up a gift card wish to fulfill and return your unwrapped toys to the office by Wed, Dec 10th. You can also donate online using our virtual tree: https://vgt.familygivingtree.org/paloverdeelementaryschool/ Together we can help make holiday wishes come true for many of our local children in need. 2nd Annual Toy Swap is Coming, December 6th!
Last year was so much fun that we thought we’d do it again! Set aside your slightly used and age-appropriate (no baby, pre-school or NC-17) toys and games and bring them to school at 9:30 am. The swap will start at 10 and run until 11:30am. More details to follow.

Covered California Health Insurance Enrollment Event
Sat, Nov 15 8:30 -12:30 pm at PAUSD District Office (SDC Room), 25 Churchill Avenue Palo Alto.
PAUSD is partnering with Covered California to assist families in signing up for health insurance through the Covered California Exchange. Come work with a certified enrollment agent to complete the necessary online or paper application at the following event:
Please bring :
· Proof of Identity: California driver’s license, or a passport for each family member
· Proof of legal status
· Social Security Card
· Proof of address: A utility bill or a rental/lease agreement
· Proof of Income: 2013 Tax return: Form 1040, 1040A, or1040EZ, paystubs or award letters within the last 45 days, unemployment or disability benefits, social security, signed letter from employer)
· The government will impose a penalty and large fine beginning this year and every year after, if you do not buy health insurance.
· The application process will take approximately 30 minutes.
· RSVP recommended. Walk-ins will be taken if time allows.

City of Palo Alto – Ideas Wanted For Climate Action Plan

As part of the update to its Sustainability and Climate Action Plan (S/CAP), the City is hosting an interactive “Ideas Expo” to invite bold ideas from the community to help advance its sustainability goals.
The new S/CAP will chart a path to a more sustainable future for Palo Alto and the region. The Ideas Expo is designed to be an interactive event to introduce the S/CAP, highlight best global practices and municipal advancements in sustainability, and to generate bold new ideas. Boychoir Auditions for spring semester
the week of Nov. 17 by appointment at 600 Homer Ave.
Auditions are open to boys ages 7-12. Rehearsals begin the week of January 5. The multi-level choir is held after school in Palo Alto and performs locally in December and May. Boys attend one rehearsal and one musicianship class a week. Older boys with experience may audition for upper levels. SVB provides a personalized approach to teaching singing, music theory, and sight-singing, and provides flexible scheduling for busy families.
