Palo Verde PTA and School News
Dear Palo Verde Families,
I’ve been perusing my Night in the Tropics auction catalog strategizing which items to bid on first. I’ve also heard from the auction committee that new items and parties have been added to the selections. I can’t wait to see them all, and all of you, tomorrow night at Trader Vic’s. It’s Palo Verde’s biggest party of the year.
Of course, the fun doesn’t end even when the auction is over. With all the fantastic “Get Togethers” organized and donated by generous families, your social calendar can be filled for the rest of the spring. Our fabulous Palo Verde teachers have all created wonderful events that are up for bid, too. There are parties just for kids, parties just for grown-ups, and parties for the whole family. While you have a great time and make some new friends, you’re also helping the school. It doesn’t get more Win-Win than that.
See you tomorrow night!
Heather Schultz, PTA President
Auction Tomorrow (3/12): Walk-Ins Welcome
So you didn’t get your Auction RSVP in by end of school TODAY, Friday, March 11th? That’s Ok! You can still attend the Auction as Walk-ins are Welcome! The cost at the door is $35 per person. The event runs from 7-10 PM at Trader Vic’s in Palo Alto (4261 El Camino Real). We have more than 200 items to bid on – everything from gift cards to local businesses, to teacher parties, to special events, to get togethers organized by Palo Verde parents.
This is our biggest fundraiser of the year and its success depends on parent participation. For younger grades parents, it’s a great opportunity to meet new families and make new friends. For older grade parents, it’s a chance to reminisce about how quickly our kids make their way from kindergarten to 5th grade. We hope to see you there!
Your Palo Verde Auction Committee,
Kim Amsbaugh, Celia Cheng, Kristin Foss, Ani Gnanalingam, Emily Jacquette, Helen Li, April McCandless
Spring Forward This Weekend!
Don’t forget to set your clocks forward one hour early Sunday morning. On March 13th, Daylight Savings Time begins again.
Science Fair Needs Morning Volunteers
The Palo Verde Science Fair grows and grows each year. Parent volunteers are needed to help with checking in, arranging, and ribboning all the student projects on the morning of Wednesday, March 23. If you can help that morning from 7:50-8:50a.m., please contact the science fair leaders, Pavan Desikan, email@example.com, or Pandu Nayak, firstname.lastname@example.org. In the evening, the MP Room will be opened for family viewing of all the school’s science fair projects.
Leader Needed for May Fete Parade
Palo Verde needs an adult leader for the city May Fete Parade this year. The traditional children’s parade will take place Saturday morning, May 7th, through downtown Palo Alto. Our new May Fete leader will decide whether or not to have a school float in this year’s parade. If we don’t have a parent leader soon, Palo Verde may not participate in the parade this year. To volunteer, contact Lili Nova-Roessig, email@example.com.
Palo Verde’s fifth annual Talent Show is scheduled for May 19!
Come share your talent with the Palo Verde community. Singers! Dancers! Musicians! We want you! We’re interested in a wide variety of talents for the show. A flyer will be sent home with your child soon. If interested, please return the bottom portion of the flyer by Friday, April 1, and return it to your child’s teacher. We look forward to seeing Palo Verde’s talent!
