Palo Verde School and PTA News…

From our PTA President….

Dear Palo Verde Families,

We had a fabulous turn-out at our Wednesday morning coffee this week.  Over 30 parents carved time out of their busy schedules to learn about the new character education program being implemented at Palo Verde.  Our guest speakers from Project Cornerstone were very engaging.  One of the speakers was a parent volunteer from an elementary school in Cupertino that has used the same program for several years.  She gave us a great “on the ground” perspective of the Asset Builders Champions program.  Her stories of the value of the ABC program to her own family, in addition to its positive impact on the school were very compelling.

You’ll all be hearing more about the ABC program in the new year.  A key component to the success of this program is family and community involvement.  At the same time, its benefits will also spill over into our families and community.

Warmest regards,
Heather Schultz

Lost and Found will be emptied Wednesday morning, Dec. 15th

Due to the schedule for the PTA Wardrobe, our Lost and Found cart will be emptied and the contents donated on Wednesday morning.  Please check the Lost and Found thoroughly before next Wednesday.  There were more than 25 jackets, sweaters, etc. in the cart this week.

Friday, December 17 is a MINIMUM Day

All students should arrive at school by 8:15am and will be dismissed at 1:25pm next Friday.  The recess and lunch schedule will follow a typical Wednesday minimum day schedule.

Playground Parents Needed!

If you can spare some time during your lunch hour, Palo Verde could use your help supervising the play yard Wednesdays, 11:40-12:15, and other days, 12:00-12:40.  Parents can check in at the office and get a snazzy orange vest to wear.  If you can commit to a specific day each week, that would be fabulous.  But if you just occasionally have a spare lunch hour, why not surprise your child and her classmates by joining them for lunch at school.

The Gift of Reading Thanks You!

Palo Verde families have once again demonstrated their generosity. More than 500 children’s’ books were donated to the Cub Scout Pack 6 charity drive for Gift of Reading.  Thank you very much for sharing your dedication to literacy with needy families in the Bay Area.
