Palo Verde School and PTA News
From our PTA President…..
Dear Palo Verde Families,
Next Friday, we hope you will all join us for Palo Verde’s annual Halloween Parade on the school blacktop. This is a fun event for the whole family. Younger siblings are welcome to attend with their parents and grandparents. Don’t forget to bring your cameras!
Before the parade starts, the PTA will host a Coffee and Chat for parents at 10 a.m.. I’m very pleased to tell you that Dana Tom, a member of the PAUSD School Board, will visit us that morning. He is interested in learning about what issues are concerning Palo Verde’s parents and teachers.
Despite the first rains of the season, the Harvest Fair on Sunday was still a wonderfully fun event. I enjoyed reading all the lovely comments decorating the Thankful Turkey. Many thanks go out to Katharine and Jeff Saunders for organizing the fair, to Mala Nayak and Maria Zajac for coordinating the bake sale, and to all their parent volunteers and terrific 5th grade helpers.
Restaurant Night, Thursday, Oct. 28
Please join us at Mountain Mike’s in Charleston Plaza for pizza on Thursday, Oct. 28. It’s a great time to let someone else make dinner, socialize with other families, and benefit Palo Verde. Look for a flyer in today’s Friday folder.
Halloween Costume Parade and Parents’ Coffee with Dana Tom, School Board Member
On Friday morning, Oct. 29, our PAUSD School Board Liason Dana Tom will join us for the Parents’ Coffee at 10a.m. Dana is looking forward to staying in touch with the community at Palo Verde.
The school Halloween Parade will begin at 10:30a.m. Students are welcome to wear their costumes to school or to change into them during morning recess. During this fun traditional event, students parade around the black top wearing their Halloween costumes. The children and teachers all get to see each others’ imaginative outfits as each class marches around in turn. Parents, grandparents and younger siblings are welcome to attend and watch all the fun. Please remember to keep costumes school appropriate: no weapons and no blood or gore.
Please Renew or Add Your Safeway Club Card with eScrip by 11/1!
Do you know how to double your eScrip contributions? Be sure your Safeway Club Card is registered with eScrip! Last year, families who had a Safeway Club Card registered with eScrip raised, on average, TWICE as much money through their eScrip contributions.
IS YOUR SAFEWAY CLUB CARD ALREADY REGISTERED WITH ESCRIP? BE SURE TO RENEW IT!
As part of its work with eScrip, Safeway asks eScrip participants to renew their Club Card in the eScrip system by November 1. It’s really easy to do and shouldn’t take more than five minutes of your time. Just go to http://www.escrip.com, click on the Safeway renewal icon, and follow the simple instructions.
MAYBE YOU’VE NEVER REGISTERED YOUR SAFEWAY CLUB CARD BECAUSE YOU ALWAYS USE YOUR PHONE NUMBER AND DON’T KNOW YOUR ACTUAL SAFEWAY CLUB CARD NUMBER?
If you’re like me, you just enter your phone number into the system when you shop at Safeway and it automatically knows your Safeway Club Card number and/or you lost your card years ago. You can still add your Safeway Club Card Number! Just call 1-877-723-3929 (select Option 3) and the Safeway Customer Service team will help you identify your Club Card Number.
Please contact our eScrip Coordinator and Room 5 mom, Callie Turk, at firstname.lastname@example.org with any questions.
Lost and Found
The changing season means chilly mornings and sunny afternoons. This leads to lots of jackets and sweatshirts left behind at school. Please check the school lost and found bin near the front office for your children’s missing items. Also, please label all outerwear and lunch boxes, etc. with your student’s name to increase the chances of items being returned. Thank you!
